Unpleasant Surprise

Tonight there was a ginormous, 2" long roach in the bathtub. It was dead, probably thanks to the cat, but that wasn't the point. I'm a tough gal in a lot of ways, but those creatures creep me out. If I were single, I would've contemplated taking showers at the gym as a better option than having to remove said carapace.

But I'm a married woman.

Thanks, Dan. This is why I love you.

TWO inches!! Yikes. We had monster ones in Hawaii (luckily in NYC I lived on the fifth floor and didn't have many encounters). My college friend/roommate was deathly scared of roaches. She once saw one in her bedroom, shut the door and stuffed shirts under it so it couldn't come out, and slept upright in a chair in the living room! I was always the one on roach carcass duty.

I was telling my boyfriend when we went to see the butterflies at Pacific Grove how strange is the human affinity for butterflies? I mean thousands of flies, roaches, spiders, praying mantises...even moths and it would freak humans out!!

Eewww!! I can't stand roaches, especially the flying ones!! They always seem to fly straight into my face!!

I once put on a sock, and there was a roach inside! And another time, a roach crawled up my jeans!! I've had enough of them and I pray that is the end of all roach encounters for me!

Kudos to Dan for saving the day ;)

That's another reason I live in the frozen north - no roaches!!
I've only ever seen one (it was dead, thank heavens) that came into the house with a bunch of bananas.
*shudder*

Good for Dan!

EWWWWW! We can't blame you for not wanting to remove the thing! Good thing Dan was around to save the day! You'd better keep him!

Nasty!!!!! I hate those things! I used to sick Beazer on them when he was able. I would see a roach, go get the Beaz, show him where it was, make sure he saw it and was interested, wait for him to chase if down and when crunch time came I would "la, la, la" my way quickly out of hearing range and wait a few minutes for the deed to be done!! Usually all that was left was a wing and a leg! Ick!

EEEEEK, hooray for Pixel and Dan. We don't have many here, we are a bit too far north, I guess, but it is an old house and there are sometimes mice and rats and then there was the skunk that died under the house....

Ew! I make my husband kill all the bugs in our house too. No roaches here though. I used to work in an office in Newark that had tons of them. A big one crawled over my foot once. I sat with my feet up on my chair for a week!

I despise those things, despite having spent most of my life with them in Louisiana and Hawaii. I'm generally a rather peaceful guy, but as soon as I see one, I launch into a mad killing spree and cannot rest until it is squished and gone.

I'm not sure I'm a good role model for my 5-year-old.

Ginormous is also an 8" banana slug in your sleeping bag!

Hooray Pixel, the mighty hunter! I'd have fun taking out a great big roach, too!

Rumbly purrs and floofy headbonks from Brainball (Alpha Cat of the Ballicai, of course!).
