Monday Bunday: Naptime!

It's taken me awhile to get back to my old self after vacation. This past week was the first where I didn't feel completely drained. Vacations can be so exhausting, and coming back to heat, humidity, allergens and pollution doesn't help. This week they're predicting temps in the 100s, which is unusual for this early in the summer. Rest and stay cool--that's all one can do.

Cadbury, of course, is an expert on resting. Staying cool in that fur coat is debatable.

Have a great week, everyone!

Follow Cadbury's lead on this. In the 100s? Yikes!

Best-ever bunny flop!

Yeah, pretty bad news about the train. I have a number of work pals who take that line home, and it happened right at rush hour, so I'm crossing my fingers that they're ok. Statistically, there's a train through the station every 4 minutes during rush hour and it happened right at 5, I think, and it takes about 10 minutes to walk to Farragut North, the closest redline station, and most of us get out at 5, which puts most of them at the station at 5:10, so the odds are in their favor, but it gives me chills. I can't imagine how such a thing could happen either with all the sensing equipment and computers. Looking at the video, it's hard to imagine how only four were killed. A lot of us have abandoned metro for commuting except for short local runs when we're already downtown, not because we felt it was unsafe, but because it has been deteriorating in spite of ever-higher fares and parking, and seems badly in need of everything to make it right again. Maybe now they'll figure out what to do and do it.

Read Glenna's comment -- oh dear. I'm off to check the news.
