The Great Hay Test

Since Cadbury seemed lukewarm on his Timmy hay, I ordered samples of some of Oxbow's other offerings. The hay arrived Monday and tonight we were ready for the Great Hay Test.

On the left, Botanical Hay. In the middle, Oat Hay. On the right, Orchard Grass.

The results:

After chinning the wooden box and nibbling the wood, Cadbury did a few laps up and down the hall and tried to squeeze past the barricade into the living room to watch the Olympics.

What kind of hay does he like best? Who the heck knows?

I tried a new recipe tonight-- apricot bread. The bread is still too hot to eat, so perhaps by tomorrow both Cadbury and I will have some food reviews to share.

As an aside, if you aren't subscribed to get Steal Tomorrow in your email, be sure to check the blog on Wednesday for the second installment!

Got a wee picky eater, do you? Might/could be strictly a carrot and lettuce kid?
Hope he decides to start gobbling things up soon!

My Spots are very whimsical about hay choices. One day the cute little nose will be turned up and a few days later they are scarfing it all down. The Brome has been fairly popular and the Oat as well. I wonder if they are not wild about the Timothy because because that is what their pellets is made from......And I want them to like the Botanical Hay because I like the idea of it....

Our guys eat the timothy pretty steadily, but they also like orchard grass and love the brome grass. So funny that we didn't know in the end what Cadbury preferred!

Do we know what part of the Olympics he prefers?

Hi Cadbury .. no, Savannah does not have a boy friend, although both Winston and Lucky would like to be. Savannah is an "older woman" who has had some children and generally prefers her single life. Why not? She gets everything she wants and lots of attention from Bunny Lady. RG basically leaves her alone except to say "Hi Savannah, you are a pretty girl" about 15 times a day!

Boy do you have a treat there as the "Hay Tester". It is probably wise to sort of take your time and not jump to conclusions. That way maybe you can keep them all coming for awhile!!!

We do all await your final decision.

Freckles is picky from time to time, too! But, her favorite is the oat hay. She has a combination meadow hay that she will sometimes eat (and of course there is the timothy hay that I stuck in the pot for the fake ficus tree in the living room -- she "sneaks" some every so often and thinks she is getting away with something. Shhh, don't tell her!)

The buns get botanical, orchard & timothy hay from oxbow too.. but I've mixed them all up so I don't know which hay they prefer either, although they do seem to dig pretty hard just to get to that ONE particular stalk of hay
