More Cadbury

This is one busy bunny!

When he’s out of his cage he spends nearly all his time running around the room, exploring corners, and getting out into the rest of the house where I have to go check up on him. Then he runs the whole way back, doing little leaps and half-binks along the way. He chases the cat, runs laps around the room, goes running down the hall again, more investigating, more chinning, binking, and a few laps around my chair.

I’m a little concerned that he hasn’t done much eating or pooping since his arrival. I think he’s just excited, though. He’s obviously not sick, since he’s so busy and curious. I’m going to take him to Dr. Jordan on Monday for a checkup and if he’s still not up to proper bunny input/output volumes, it’ll get taken care of.

He sure is fast! And he’s not the least put off by the hardwood floors. With Tidbit, we could control where she went simply by not putting rugs where we didn’t want her to go. Cadbury doesn’t care, though. Hardwoods and kitchen tiles are no impediment to his exploring. He doesn’t appear to be a cord-chewer, so maybe in the future we can let him have the run of the house. But until we’re sure of his habits, I have to either keep the door to “his” room closed or chase after him like a toddler.

More later tonight or tomorrow. He’s up again after a brief rest in the wicker tunnel and I need to keep an eye on him. I also need to start a batch of granola bars. Those things never last long around here!

I love how pooped he looks when he's lying in the wicker tunnel...All that exploring wears a bunny out! I bet he's just excited about his new surroundings and will start eating and pooping very soon.

Cadbury is so cute that mom now wants a rabbit!

I can't believe it! She wants to have a mini zoo!

I found the same thing with my new guys. I'd had Bunnyman for years, and he was older and more settled, and I'd adopted him at three, so maybe he had gotten past the tearing around phases. He had an open door cage, that he used for his litter box and his food, but he preferred to stretch out on the carpet 'neath the shade of the recliner, and didn't venture out much. He also didn't like wood floors or stairs, so he stayed happily in the family room, and although he was a cord chewer, with bunny-proofing, that wasn't a problem. Imagine my surprise and chagrin when these two hopped into my life...chinning, tearing up and down the halls, into everything, hopping, thumping, teearing up the carpet and peeing on it, and binkying right and left...and chewing anything and everything, getting into stuff, etc. I had to be creative about containing them without caging them full time, but it was a huge surprise and as you said, I spent a lot of time chasing after them like toddlers!

Thanks, Glenna! I needed to hear that. I'm not sure of Cadbury's age, but I suspect he's quite young. With my previous two rabbits, the first had been abused and was very cautious, and Tid was already about two when we got her. Tid was very busy for the first few days, though, and I'm hoping Cadbury settles down once he's used to this place.

In fact, I know he will. He'll figure out that there's nothing down the hall that wasn't there five minutes ago, he'll get older and set in his ways and we'll all figure each other out. It's just been awhile since I've been in this place and I had forgotten what it was like.

Aww, too cute. Hope he settles down soon - I can relate, a little - I had forgotten (after my 13 year old dog passed away) how rambunctious a puppy could be.....
Chinning?
Binkying?
Not heard those terms before....I've led such a sheltered life.

He is just the dang cutest! Give him an ear rub for me.

BL- Chinning refers to when a rabbit rubs his chin on something to leave a scent, marking it as personal territory. Binking or binkying is when a rabbit jumps just for the joy of jumping. It's sort of a bunny happy dance.

Cadbury is so adorable -- and he seems to be settling (is that the right word since he's so busy?) into your home very well! We like his lovely coloring. Reminds us of someone. Hmmmmm.

Oh, Cadbury is so precious! And you know what, he makes me think of a bunny version of my MaoMao. Cadbury sounds like a very young and energetic bunny. And when we first brought MaoMao into the house, we thought he'd never slow down! He was spazzing out pretty much ALL THE TIME except when he'd sleep here and there (to recharge, we supposed). He's calmed down some, but he's still a very energetic playful boy -- like a comedian in a cat suit. Cadbury sounds like a comedian in a bunny suit! :)

Give your sweet bunboy a big hug from me!

Thanks for clearing those up for me, BG! I kinda of assumed chinning was similar to a cat marking personal territory that way, too, but binking had me befuddled!
