Updates

Tidbit is slowly coming around. She still doesn’t come to my bedroom door in the morning if I’m too slow with her breakfast, but she eats on her own and tonight she settled beside my chair in loaf position—something she hasn’t done since becoming ill.

I’ve found a way to get her antibiotics in her. They’re supposed to be administered orally via syringe and I found that if I rub the tip of the syringe with the inside of a raisin, I can get the antibiotic into her before she realizes I’ve tricked her.

We’ve decided to board her at the vet while we’re on vacation. I hate to do that to the poor girl, but she’s still on twice-daily meds and I have more confidence that the vet techs can administer them than a petsitter. Also, the vet is cheaper and if she relapses, she’ll get the care she needs right away. She won’t be too happy about the arrangement, but no other solutions make much sense.

Earlier this week I saw a duck and ten itty-bitty striped ducklings paddling around the university’s big fountains (the jets were turned off for cleaning). I took pictures and I’ll try to post them tomorrow.

Finally, today (Thursday) is my last work day in my current department. They’re going to have a party for me, which I don’t really want but since they’re using one of my favorite caterers I’m not complaining. There’s a lot that I’m going to miss, but if I have even ten percent less stress in my new job, it will have been so worth it.

That's a good, conservative report. I think leaving her with the vet is a wise decision. It sounds like she is coming around. I hope you can relax on your vacation without worrying. I suspect you'll be calling to check in on her :-)

Thank you for your kind words of comfort for me and your love for my Archi Ann.

Enjoy the party, have a blessed relaxing vacation and we'll be praying for Tid :-)

Phew! Good news at last from Tidbit!!
I agree with Carri Ann, it makes sense to leave her boarding at the vets, lucky you to have this option!
If you are anything like me, I guess you will be calling once a day while on holiday "just to make sure", which is just what anyone expects from a bunny mum...but for now, enjoy the party (and the food!) and have a great holiday...we'll be here to check up on Tid and you on your return :)
PS: thanks for the cute (for now just mental) pic of the ducklings....aren't they one of the sweetest things?

Boarding her at the vet is a good, sensible solution and you won't have to worry.
Good to read Tidbit is better.

The Bag Lady was actually hoping that you would do exactly that, and board Tid with the vet. For exactly those reasons. Glad to know we are all on the same page!! And happy to hear Tid is on the mend.
Enjoy the party - I'm sure it will be a bittersweet time, but a nice way to start your vacation!
Looking forward to seeing the ducklings in the fountain...

Oh, wow.... I'm so out of date.... gotta read back and find out what happened! Poor Tidbit...

Blogspot will say this is from Ellie Hamilton, but really it is from her quadrupeds Journey (canine) and Annie (feline.) We know how much it sucks not to be able to tell your biped what is wrong. But she is doing her best to take care of you. Try to make her feel good and eat a little...and frisk around a bit just so you remember how it feels, you might want to get back to it!

Love,
Journey

I'm glad that Tid is getting better, and that sounds like a great idea to board her while you're on vacation. She'll get her meds, and she'll continue to improve and you won't have to worry, because she's in a place where she'll get good care as she continues to recover.

And wow, I hope you had a good last day of work in your department. My coworkers had a party for me on my last day, too. Despite my complaints about that job, I'd worked with many of those people for a long time, and though I was happy with my decision to leave, I didn't say goodbye without a few pangs.

Best of luck with your job in your new department -- so exciting! And oh, the duck pictures -- gonna go comment on them now. :)

Have a great vacation! I agree that vet boarding was the most sensible idea. Tibit will definitely be getting some grapes when you get home!

Love those ducks!

Pahtee (and vacation) Hearty .. we will all be jealous as hell, of course.

Our best wishes for Tid and we hope for a good report with full details upon your return.

I don't know if we can take any more sadness, so let's all think positive here! Here comes a big waft of bunny-love from the Pac. NW ...

I'm so thrilled Tid is home! She's such a beauty. Good call on boarding her with the vet, I would feel the same way about a pet sitter, when she's not feeling 100%.

As tough as it was, I hope you enjoyed your party! You totally deserve it. It's still hard though. I'm sure your new job will be great!

It was my pleasure to visit your blog. It is really a mirecle to visit your blog in this wide world. And I also have the feeling that it was really a pity that we didn't meet each other earlier. Because the kindness and warmth in your blog can make me completely relaxed and happy. I hope that you will visit my blog too to see if you can have the same feeling.
